3rd term personal reflection

Final reflection
In the 3rd term I learned a lot of things. Everyday that passes I learned something. English is not my language and always learn vocabulary or pronunciation. For example in my last presentation I learned a lot of vocabulary, and during the term I wrote a lot of writings. Now I have more practises to do it. I think its important record our dialogues because my pronunciation is not very well. I’m embarrassing to listen to me. In 2nd term I sited next to Adam in class, an American student, and he helped me. But this term I miss his help, of course. I think this school year was fantastic, I learned a lot and I spend a good moments with friends. We went to Italy, we prepared our graduation’s party and we laughed a lot. The school year has finish! TANK YOU to all people who help me.
I think its necessary say that the portfolio online is a good idea to organize our English task!

Presentation, Do the adverts fool us?

I choose this topic because I think is interesting, because today everybody is victim of adverts.
"Talk to your dauther before the beauty industry does". It is a goos sentence to do a reflection.

Adverts Presentation

Observation

The presentation includes some recourse. I used images, videos, PowerPoint support to show the presentation. The recourses were attractive and relevant.
At the beginning I was very nervous and I wasn’t looking the audience. I was sometimes reading my notes. But two minutes later I was looking the audience, because I’d more confidence. I did gestures and movements to hold the attention of my listeners. I think it’s a good resource.
My ideas of presentation were organize in order of importance and I used discourse markers to make my ideas more clear.
I didn’t introduce new information to my audience, but I think my presentation’s topic is so interesting. Its important make a reflection about the actually tv adverts. I used internet and tv to look up information. My information was more superficial, because I had fifth minutes to show my presentation.
I always check my grammar to do an oral presentation. I use dictionary to do it. But I’ll improve in my future presentation in use sentence linkers and fillers.
I didn’t pronounce all my words very well. I didn’t check the pronunciation with a dictionary, a classmate or the teacher. During the presentation I changed my tone of voice and I did my speed with some breaks and interruptions.
I’ll improve in my new presentation.

You are your teacher! What mark did you get?? 6.5

WRITING
Reporting and interview
by Jordi

Laura said that she was feeling happy today, because tomorrow she will go to Barcelona with friends. She’s happiest when she’s out with friends, and she said that mobile phone and her best friend Jorge were two things which she couldn’t live without. She’s not angry or moody ever, because Laura is a happy person. She likes people who’s intelligent, who isn’t innocent and who makes she laugh. If she could be anywhere in the world at this moment, she would be in Los Angeles, because she like this city for his sunny days.

Laura hasn’t got a great memory, and he doesn’t remember the first day at her school; but she remembers her last birthday very clear. She passed a good time with friends and she make a diner with family. Laura has been to a lot of countries, for example she visited Ireland, Dominican Republic and Czech Republic; but the best holiday she ever had was in Italy with friends.

She’s usually positive about the future. I asked if the planet would be a better place in a hundred years, and Laura said that it probably wouldn’t. Laura isn’t going to be famous; she thinks that it’s a problematic life. When she’s older, Laura thinks that she might still live in Girona, because she likes it. She promised that she will study a lot when she finishes this school.

REFLECTION
I think when we’ve doing this activity we practise our pronunciation and the reporter speech grammar. But, also we learned something new about friends. In my opinion is an interesting activity to do in class, because it’s different way to learned English. It was useful to improve our English.

Diary about one week

I wrote a text about one week in my life.

Four years ago, my family and I went to England. We thought that England was a good destination to have a good time and visit British culture. We spent one week in London and we visited a lot of museums, streets, etc. During the holiday we laughed a lot, because my parents didn’t speak English very well. My sister and I couldn’t stop to laugh when my dad asked in English for Buckingham Palace to a policewoman.
In conclusion, the trip was a good experience, my parents learned something about English and I had the best week in my life.

Trip to Italy

Before the trip to Italy I thought that this will be fantastic; and now, after the trip I think it is a fantastic experience for us. We won’t forget this trip. Also, think that this trip unified the class. We are like a family!

In this trip we visited a lot of museums, monuments, cathedrals… But, I think it is interesting to know about the Italian culture. Not only we visited museums, after that we had free time! We went shopping, ate something, walked in large streets… Italy is a beautiful country. I could repeat the trip a hundred times. An interesting thing is that now I know better some people of my class, because before the trip we didn’t speak a lot.

Presentation, The Oscars

In my presentation I talk about the Oscar. I think is important Know about it because is an actually even.

What is it talk about? THE OSCAR

The statuette is called Oscar because the most popular story is that Margaret Herrick, librarian and director of the Academy, after looking at the statuettes exclaimed: "it looks like just like my Uncle Oscar.” The meaning of Oscar is a Sir holding a Crusader’s sword, standing on film reel with five spokes.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was established in May 1927 as a non-profit corporation to promote the art of movie making. The first Awards were in 1929 and were presented at a private dinner in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel with 250 people.

Oscar suffer changes during the years. At first the Oscars’ ceremony awarded the better actors and actress of the moment. A few years later, Oscars awarded the overproductions of Hollywood. And, in the actually the cinema is based with marketing and money has more importance.

Woody Allen's opinion is very important for the cinemas world because he is a famous film director and he has total creative control. Woody says: "I would like that the prizes represent something, but unfortunately the way which they organized it, I don’t believe that it serve for much."

Crash,

by Paul Haggis.

The film depicts several characters living in Los Angeles, California during a 36-hour period and brings them together through car collisions, shootings, and carjacking. Through these characters' interactions, the film seeks to depict and examine not only racial tension, but also the distance between strangers in general.

Woody Allen talks about the Oscars

- Do you feel happy for having been nominated in the Oscars?
No, I don’t. I don’t think about the Oscars and I don’t think about the Golden globes either. I would like that the prizes will represent something, but unfortunately seen the way in which they are organized, I don’t believe that they serve for much ".
- So you aren't agreeing with the nomination of the Oscars 2009 for Vicki Cristina Barcelona?
Not exactly. "Vicky Cristina Barcelona” for me was history before the Oscars, I did it two years ago, already it was released, the people liked it and I’m grateful for it.
- Looking back on your career, it’s so amazing, everyone is clamoring to work with you, you have total creative control. Have you ever just sat back and thought to yourself, I am just incredibly lucky?
I say that all the time. I always say that I’ve been incredibly lucky and that people have a tendency to underplay the roll of luck in life and I feel that people underplay that because they’re so scared to lose control. I don’t feel that. I feel that I’ve been completely lucky.

3- the Oscars

What I think about the Oscars?
In my opinion the Oscars are important to recognize the actors’ tasks. The Oscars is a nice moment because the ceremony is a moment of unity for the world. But I think that in the Oscars they spend a lot of money that it is necessary to help a many people in the world.

The Oscars at the beginning and the Oscars in the actuality
At first the Oscars’ ceremony awarded the better actors and actress of the moment; Grace Kelly, Barbara Streisand, Audrey Hepburn, Cary Gran… A few years later, Oscars awarded the overproductions of Hollywood. In these films the actors and actresses were very good. For twenty years, the cinema is based with marketing and money has more importance. Now the Oscars not only represent the simple ceremony, represent a glamour red carpet, for example.

1- the Oscars

The Oscars history
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was established in May 1927 as a non-profit corporation to promote the art of movie making. In the first year, the Academy had 36 members. The first Academy Awards, now better known as the Oscars, were presented at a private dinner in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, with less than 250 persons attending.

Agreeing to establish an annual award, the group turned its attention to creating a suitably majestic trophy. MGM art director Cedric Gibbons designed a statuette of a knight standing on a reel of film gripping a crusader’s sword. The Academy tapped Los Angeles sculptor George Stanley to realise the design in three dimensions.

A letter: explaining a problem

I’ve had a problem recently. My parents have said that I can’t see my girlfriend again because she is a bad influence on me.

I’m worried because my girlfriend isn’t a bad influence, she’s a fantastic girl and I don’t want to lose her. I think my girlfriend is a good influence on me, because I’m happier. But maybe my parents would be more open about our relationship if I introduced her to them, so they can see that my girlfriend is a nice person.

I’d really like some advice because if my parents don’t understand me soon, I’ll probably go away with my girlfriend.

Books or the Net??

Many people today, depend on books and the Internet for various reasons. Books and the Internet are usually used to research, for school subjects or personal interests….

Books are portable and easier to use and they are in hard copy; but the books may lost, stolen or aren’t in the bookshops. The Internet, on the other hand, has entertainment for all ages, from children to adults. It is a source of communication and gives recent information, which is updated every few days or hours. It’s an efficiently tool. But internet can be unreliable at times.

All in all, I think that books and the Internet have the same importance. On balance, the Internet is quite good.

Song lyrics Rehab lyrics

The song talks about Amy Winehouse and her problems with drugs. Amy's family or friends say that Amy needs rehabilitation. Amy doesn't want to go to a centre of rehabilitation of drugs. The title of the song is very clear: REHAB, rehab is the same you say rehabilitation. This is the main meaning of the song.
I think that this song is very in teresting to listen, because a lot of people around the world have the same Amy's problem: the drugs. This is a big problem and this need a solution. I didn't try the drugs, but I think that when you stay in the same problem is very necessary listen the people who want to help you, very important!

Yes, in England. Oh, England is a lovely country and the perfect place where you fall in love.

Yes, I like. It's good because you can laugh and you can cry.
Do you like the music?
Yes, a lot. The music it's quite good.

The best for me... is the song of the beginning: Love is all around me.
What's the best actor or actress?
Hugh Grant, he's a handsome and pretty boy!
What type of film is it? a tragedy? a comedy?
This film mixture the comedy and the tragedy. There are funny and nice scene in the film, but also there are some sad situations.
